The BTL story

Mark Allen owner of “Built to Last Ironwork” is a master manipulator of iron. He first became acquainted with the trade through his father Bruce Allen who was a highly skilled ironworker and public transit mechanic. Bruce Allen made it his responsibility to ensure that his son would always be able to find work, so at the age of 12 he taught him the art of welding. Mark was fascinated with the idea of taking a piece of iron and transforming it into a something beautiful.

He learned the importance of welding and saw the need for it throughout the city and beyond. Welding would go on to play a pivotal role in his life and be the unique bond he shared with his now late father.“There’s nothing like seeing a need and filling it” and 25 years later that is exactly what he works tirelessly to do. Built to Last Iron Work was founded on family, love of craft and a deep respect for the art of welding, it’s no wonder these values standout in the work the team produces.
